City hospitals partially closed during Spring Festival holiday
Shanghai hospitals will suspend outpatient service between January 31 and February 6, but emergency departments and fever clinics will remain open. The hospitals will resume normal operation after the Spring Festival holiday.
Shanghai health authorities also ordered hospitals to prepare for a possible outbreak of flu, particularly the H7N9 avian flu, and measles. Their fever clinics must open around the clock and report cases to the city's disease control center.
The center will keep epidemic experts and disinfection teams on standby to cope with any emergency.
People are advised to stay away from live birds and go to see the doctor if they show symptoms of coughing and fever.
