Conjoined twins successfully separated
CONJOINED twins Sui Jiangshuang and Sui Jianlian finally slept on different beds for the first time in their life after they were successfully separated at Shanghai Children's Hospital today.
The six-month old girls shared a liver but each had her own heart, lung, kidneys and digestive system, hospital officials said.
They will be kept at the hospital for at least two weeks for after-surgery care and rehabilitation, officials said.
However, the surgery was still very risky. The children were abandoned by their mother and taken in by a Guangdong Province children's home, which sought help for the surgery in Shanghai.
