'Critical' Patient Improves
A MAN who developed Shanghai's first serious H1N1 infection showed improvement yesterday, although he was still in critical condition, medical authorities said.
Doctors said the man's swine flu virus has been eliminated and they no longer need to administer the anti-viral drug Tamiflu. The 35-year-old migrant worker from the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region remained unconscious yesterday and was dependant on a respiratory machine.
Doctors at Shanghai No. 1 People's Hospital's Songjiang branch said a blood sample on Sunday night showed Liu no longer tested positive for the H1N1 virus, and some of his vital signs were better.
