Hospital in 2nd false links probe

A PLASTIC surgery hospital is being investigated over allegations that it falsely claimed to be affiliated to a famous city hospital — having recently been fined for the same offence.

The Shanghai Industry and Commerce Administration is probing allegations that Shanghai Huamei Medical Cosmetology Hospital claimed to be a branch of Shanghai No. 9 People’s Hospital — which specializes in plastic surgery.

Only last month, Huamei was fined 200,000 yuan (US$32,300) for falsely claiming links to Shanghai No. 9 People’s Hospital, China Central Television reported yesterday.

At the time, it was ordered to shut down its website.

However, a new site carrying the same false information was then launched by the hospital on Yuanshen Road in the Pudong New Area, it is claimed.

All references to No. 9 People’s Hospital elements had been removed from Huamei’s website yesterday afternoon.
