A MACHINE which can create rays up to a billion times greater than normal X-rays is nearing completion.
The Shanghai Synchrotrons Radiation Facility Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park will significantly boost the country's overall competitiveness in medical research, researchers said.
The 1.2 billion yuan (US$175 million) project will be completed and ready for use next month.
The Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility project is a key scientific research and technology development platform on Chinese mainland.
The project has built seven beamlines and experimental stations for research and development in life sciences, new materials, physics and biochemical projects, said a spokesman for the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
