World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery kicks off in Shanghai

THREE-DIMENSIONAL surgeries and surgeries with visual reality technology will be showed during the 15th World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery, which would last till Saturday.

Specialists from 53 countries and regions and all over the country participated in the meeting with the latest technology and models of equipment of minimally invasive surgery through endoscope, according to Shanghai Ruijin Hospital, the meeting organizer.

Currently about 50 percent of surgeries in the world are conducted by minimally invasive technology, which is nicknamed as keyhole surgery for imposing small cuts on patients and a quicker recovery as well as having higher requirements to doctors.

“The future trend of minimally invasive surgery is more precise and more minimal,” said Dr Zheng Minhua from Ruijin and the first Chinese uses endoscope to do surgery on patients in the nation. “The cuts will be further small and cuts will be reduced from multiple holes for one hole.”
