Voting for Touching Shanghai awards starts

VOTING for the annual Touching Shanghai award starts today to select 10 of Shanghai's inspirational role models.

The third Touching Shanghai award, whose theme this year is "Glory and Power," is aimed at selecting 10 people whose deeds between August 2012 and June of this year in Shanghai represent a true moral epic.

The 65 candidates include those who have had great influence in their profession or are widely acknowledged in a certain field. There are also good Samaritans and common people who achieved extraordinary effects by doing ordinary things.

In a society in which people's attention is often grabbed by bad news, the Touching Shanghai award is designed to send a different message by presenting the stories of role models to promote positive energy.

Residents are welcome to vote for the candidates via eastday.com. The results of the 10 award winners will be announced on September 20.
