40℃ before noon and highest level of heat alert again!
Shanghai's benchmark observatory in Xujiahui recorded the temperature at 40 degrees at 11:21am today. Yesterday’s high temperature recorded 40.6 degrees, equaling its previous hottest day on July 26.
The city's meteorological bureau issued a red alert, the highest level of a three-level warning system, at 7:52am today, warning people that another day of extreme heat is on the way. It has become a red heat alert that was issued the earliest in the day this summer.
