A scorcher as summer nears end
SHANGHAI is set to bask in temperatures touching 36 degrees Celsius today, but the city’s hottest summer on record looks to be drawing to a close.
Tomorrow, the mercury is set to drop to 31 degrees, and then fluctuate in the days to follow, as autumn approaches.
While the eye of tropical storm Trami is far from Shanghai, a subtropical front around it will bring higher temperatures today, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.
“After that, the city’s temperature will see ups and downs but the overall trend is down as summer ends,” the bureau’s chief service officer Fu Yi said.
Thunderstorms are forecast for tomorrow, but temperatures will rebound somewhat on Monday and Tuesday. There will be some days next week when the high reaches 35 degrees, but no continuous spells, he added.
