Accidents injure kids and man

TWO children hit by a car were in critical condition in hospital yesterday, while a man suffered severe brain injuries after being run over by another car over the weekend.
In the former case, a car lost control and swerved on to the sidewalk on Siping Road in Hongkou District about 3pm on Saturday.
Four children were playing on the sidewalk. Three were knocked down. One child was released from hospital yesterday while the other two were still in critical condition. One suffered a fractured skull and a bruised lung, while the other suffered severe bruising and a broken arm.
A few hours later, a driver knocked a group of people down at an intersection in Xuhui District. A preliminary investigation found the driver knocked down a road barrier on Zhongshan Road S2 about 8:30pm when she was trying to make a U-turn and then hit five people.
Four suffered cuts and bruises. The fifth, a young man, was taken to hospital with a brain hemorrhage.
