And the sky smiles
A “smiley rainbow” — an upside down rainbow — was spotted this morning, cheering up local residents in late winter.
It is actually an optical phenomenon called a circumzenithal arc or Bravais' arc, caused by the refraction of sunlight through horizontally oriented ice crystals rather than raindrops. It’s very rare in warm areas.
The mercury will continue to climb as spring approaches. The temperature for Saturday will rise to 17 degrees Celsius, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
But at the meantime, a warm front will bring rain to the city. Showers may hit Shanghai on Saturday night and Sunday morning, forecasters said.
Monday and Tuesday will be cloudy, and the temperature will fall a little.
