Animal bites on the rise
LOCAL hospitals are seeing a sharp rise in the number of animal bite cases due to the scorching weather, said officials.
The four designated hospitals for treating dog bites in the Pudong New area are receiving over 200 patients a day. About two thirds of patients are bitten by their own dogs and one third are bitten or scratched by other pets such as cats and rabbits. At least 10 construction workers have been bitten by rats at worksites.
