Bridge reopens viewing platform
THE Lupu Bridge observatory platform reopened yesterday after renovations and a group discount was available after some people complained about the price of a ticket, which more than doubled after the revamp.
Each ticket costs 80 yuan (US$12.05), up from 38 yuan before the face-lift, drawing complaints from the public.
In response, Fan Xiaodong, an official with the bridge's management firm, told Shanghai Daily that groups of 10 or more will receive a 50 percent discount.
Fan said some people who don't know each other were joining together to make a group of 10 in order to receive the discount. He added this was acceptable.
The platform, at the top of the bridge spanning the Huangpu River, had been closed for eight months due to the World Expo. It offers great views of the Expo site on both sides of the river.
