Bus runs over man lying on road
A MAN lying in the middle of the road talking on his cell phone was run over and killed by bus on Tuesday night.
The man, who was aged around 30, was probably drunk, witnesses speculated.
Police said the bus did not stop after the accident about 10:30pm Tuesday on Guilin Road in Xuhui District but that the driver was held afterwards.
The identity of the dead man was still unclear and an investigation is ongoing, said police.
The victim was in the middle of the road when he was hit by a Bus 166, said a witness surnamed Zhang.
"When I went past the scene, the man seemed already dead," Zhang said.
"A driver told the police that he saw the man lying on the ground and making a call. He was probably drunk at the time," added Zhang.`
