Buses, trains added for tomb-sweeping
MORE subway trains and buses will be added to handle an expected passenger surge during the coming weekend and next week with the arrival of Chinese traditional tomb-sweeping period marked by the winter solstice, city traffic police said yesterday.
Shuttle buses will be added linking Metro stations to cemeteries mainly in Qingpu, Jiading, Songjiang and Minhang districts and the Pudong New Area. Some 2.2 million more people and 200,000 vehicles are expected to make trips during the peak tomb-sweeping times this weekend and on December 21.
