Car race to roar in Pudong, roads closed this weekend
BUSES routes will be altered and the Metro station under the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum in the Pudong New Area will be closed during the 2010 DTM Championship this weekend, traffic authority said today.
Roads around the museum will be closed and turned into the street circuit for the final showdown of the German-based car race.
As a result, bus lines No. 184, 640, 794, 815, 983, 987 and Dongzhou Line will have to make a detour and the routes of Bus Tunnel Line 3, Shenchong Line 2 and 4 will be shortened during the event from Friday to Sunday, traffic police said.
All vehicles will be banned from the area encircled by Yanggao Road M., Taolin Road, Dingxiang Road, Minsheng Road, Jinxiu Road, Huamu Road and Yanggao Road, police said. But the ban will affect only parts of the roads, except Jinxiu Road which is all closed. Bicycles and scooters are also restricted in the area and people are suggested to take other routes.
The circuit of the DTM car race will be 24 kilometers long, starting from Dingxiang Road, passing Jindai Road, Yingchun Road, Hehuan Road, Jinxiu Road and Huanjin Road, and turning back to Dingxiang.
There will be 18 cars with drivers from seven countries participating in the race, including Cheng Congfu from Chinese mainland and Darryl O'Young from Hong Kong.
