Chilly Friday will give way to a warm weekend
ANOTHER chilly 24 hours are on the cards for today, but things should improve slightly over the weekend, forecasters said yesterday.
Today’s high is expected to be about 16 degrees Celsius, before rising closer to 18 or 19 degrees tomorrow and Sunday.
The warm spell will be short-lived, however, as a new cold front will push temperatures down to the mid teens from Monday onwards.
The on-and-off rains are also likely to continue over the coming days and these could turn to sleet in suburban areas as the mercury slides.
Despite the cooler outlook, winter is likely still some way off — at least according to the number crunchers at the meteorological bureau, who stipulate that the cold season begins only once the mercury has spent five days below the 10-degree mark.
Longer term forecasts suggest there will be a slump in temperatures next week, which is good news for anyone hoping to wear a festive sweater while eating their Thanksgiving dinner.
