City to simmer as Malou departs
TEMPERATURES will rise again from today to Thursday following the departure of the latest tropical storm, weathermen said yesterday.
The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau suggested that the maximum temperature in the city would climb to 34 degrees Celsius this week.
Both today and tomorrow are forecast to be cloudy with temperatures ranging from a low of 27 degrees and a high of 34.
Showers are expected this weekend under the influence of a trough and the city should be cool by then, said Fu Yi, a chief service officer of the bureau.
Tropical storm Malou, meanwhile, is turning away from Shanghai and should not impact the city, the bureau added.
Malou was upgraded to a severe tropical storm at 7am yesterday and was 500 kilometers from the city at 10am, the bureau said.
Malou is moving northeast at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour, away from the city.
