Cold, fine weather to bring in New Year
SHANGHAI is expected to welcome 2011 with cold but fine weather, according to the city's meteorological bureau.
Weather conditions on Friday, December 31, and New Year's Day are both forecast as sunny with some cloud.
But it will be chilly, with a low of 2 degrees Celsius below 0 and a high of 4 degrees, the bureau said.
Temperatures are expected to drop by 8 degrees from Thursday.
Strong gales reaching 49 kilometers per hour are also forecast for Thursday.
Conditions over the next three days should be stable, sunny with some cloud, with the high around 10 degrees Celsius. Today is forecast sunny, with a low of 1 degree Celsius and a high of 11.
Meanwhile, air quality has improved in recent days, thanks to stronger winds.
