Cold may bring city sleet, snow
A STRONG cold front is expected to sweep Shanghai and eastern China this afternoon, with temperatures falling by 8 to 10 degrees, forecasters said yesterday.
Intermittent precipitation is likely to continue today. The mercury today should range from a low of 3 degrees Celsius to a high of 9.
Winds should get heavier today with the temperature dropping and there should be some sleet and snow at night, said Man Liping, a chief service officer of the Shanghai Observatory.
Right behind the humid weather will be dry and cold air from the north. The low tomorrow morning is to reach as low as minus 1 degree Celsius, with the high to climb to only 3 degrees.
The temperature is expected to drop very early Monday to a low of minus 2 degrees. The suburbs may hit minus 6 degrees. New Year's Eve should be chilly, staying around zero degrees.
