Cooler air drops until weekend
RESIDENTS can enjoy cooler air as the highest temperature till the weekend won't exceed 35 degrees Celsius, weathermen said.
Thundershowers are expected to visit the city frequently in the coming four days with the highest temperature predicted to appear on Saturday at around 33 degrees, according to Shanghai Meteorological Bureau today.
Yesterday the highest temperature was 29.8 degrees at Xujiahui, and the total solar eclipse brought the temperature down to 26.8 degrees, which brought an end to the broiling heat above 35 degrees for nine days in succession.
On Monday Shanghai's temperature hit 40 degrees, the hottest day this summer and the second highest in the city's 137-year history of documenting weather records.
