Cooler, wetter weather on cards for weekend

AFTER the warmth of yesterday, today is likely to be cooler and wetter, with temperatures falling by about 6 degrees Celsius, forecasters said.

The mercury topped out at 27.8 degrees yesterday, though the air was far from clear. With the air quality index at 186, the concentration of PM2.5 particles peaked at 140 micrograms per cubic meter (moderately polluted) about 9am before improving significantly in the afternoon.

Today is likely to see more cloud and some showers, while the high is expected to fall to about 21 degrees. Saturday will see strong winds and brief periods of heavy rain, though the sun should return on Sunday, when the high is forecast to hit the mid-20s.
