Delay hits rush hour commuters
METRO Line 11 suffered lengthy delays during morning rush hours yesterday, causing passenger congestion at some downtown subway stations.
Officials said there was a signal glitch between Jiangsu Road and Zhenru Road stations at 6:43am. The operator, Shanghai Shentong Group, apologized, saying that the line was still in its test phase. The service was delayed for 21 minutes to allow workers to identify the problem, the operator said. The glitch was fixed by 8:28am. Some passengers complained that what should have been a 15-minute ride between Jiangsu Road and Shanghai West Railway Station took more than 30 minutes.
