Driver killed, 8 injured in bus crash

A BUS driver was killed and eight passengers injured after a bus hit a truck on Changjiang Bridge yesterday afternoon.
One of the injured, a child who suffered minor concussion in the crash, was transferred to Xinhua Hospital for further checks yesterday, while the others were all in stable conditions and two had been discharged.
"I was reading a book and was suddenly flung out of my seat," said a victim surnamed Fan. "When I got up, my mouth was bleeding."
The accident happened at 12:40pm on a Shenchong Line bus route from Pudong New Area to Chongming County.
Zhao, a college student on the bus, said the bus collided with the rear of the truck, swerved away and crashed into the railings of the bridge.
A crane truck was dispatched to the scene to remove the bus and normal traffic flow was restored -before 1:30pm.
Earlier yesterday an unidentified driver was killed after his electric scooter was hit by a cement truck in the city's Minhang District.
