Electric Expo buses to hit city streets
ONE-HUNDRED-AND-TWENTY electric buses that were used at Shanghi World Expo 2010 will gradually be put into use on two routes in the city starting next month.
The buses, which were popular among Expo visitors, have an expected life span of about eight years, the city's bus operator said.
The buses will be used on the No. 23 and No. 939 routes.
After being used for three years, the buses can run up to 65 kilometers on one charge, thus they need to be used on short routes, bus officials said.
Meawhile, the city traffic administration said shuttle buses will be launched in five districts to link to Metro lines 2, 5, 8, 9 and 11 for the coming Qingming Festival in which many people visit cemeteries to sweep the tombs of their ancestors.
