Elevated road cave-in rumors denied
AUTHORITIES have dismissed rumors that work on an elevated road that ended today was to repair a cave-in.
This morning, a driver caught in traffic on the Dabaishu section of the Inner Ring Road in Yangpu District due to the roadworks, claimed online that a hole was responsible for the delay.
This spread on Weibo microblog, attracting attention from both the public and construction authorities
Photographs posted online showed apparent gaps covered by steel sheets.
Some netizens even alleged that "the road caved in."
But Shanghai road management administration dismissed the rumor, saying that Dabaishu secion of the Inner Ring Road was simply undergoing expansion work.
Traffic resumed normally after work ended and restrictions were lift, said officials.
