Expect A Downpour
TORRENTIAL rain is expected to pound the city today, weather forecasters said.
With a rain belt moving north, 20 millimeters of rain an hour could fall on the city, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau yesterday.
The morning rush is likely to be affected by the weather, the observatory said, and reminded locals to leave home early. The heaviest rain is forecast at noon.
The temperature gap today should not be wide, with a low of 19 degrees Celsius and a high of 22. Tomorrow, the weather should turn showery, with a high of 26 degrees.
"The wet weather should last at least 10 days," said Shen Yu, senior engineer at the climate center of the bureau.
Shen said it was unclear how long the plum rain season will last.
