Festival has something for everyone

THE float parade
As the traditional event of the Shanghai Tourism Festival, 22 floats and associated performances are expected to attract a huge audience.
Location: Huaihai Road (between Xizang Road S. and Shaanxi Road S.)
Time: 7:30pm-9pm, Saturday
The opening gala
Domestic singing and dancing stars will perform.
Venue: Century Square, Nanjing Road E.
Time: 9pm-11:30pm, Saturday
The Shanghai international musical fireworks festival
Firework companies from China, Switzerland, Italy and Britain will show off their pyrotechnic prowess.
Venue: Century Park, Pudong New Area
Dates: September 30, October 3, October 6
Hip-hop contest
This is a new event of the festival. The winner will receive 10,000 yuan (US$1,428).
Venue: Century Square, Nanjing Road E.
Dates: September 17 to 19
China day
About 60 folk artists will perform. Taiwan products will play an important role at the event.
Venue: Yuyuan Garden and City God Temple
Dates: September 29 to October 13
Sunqiao harvest festival
Escaping the downtown hustle and bustle, people can enjoy both fresh fruit and vegetables and the slower lifestyle of this festival that celebrates picking time.
Venue: Sunqiao Modern Agriculture Garden, Pudong New Area
Dates: September 22 to October 6
The garden party of theMid-Autumn Festival
Traditional Chinese activities feature at the party, such as guessing riddles on lanterns and cuju, ancient soccer. Folk art work exhibitions will also feature.
Venue: Guilin Park, Xuhui District
Dates: October 1 to 3
