Fishing index set for debut
SOMETHING fishy is going on at Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
The bureau's director, Tang Xu, said yesterday that it will launch a fishing index before World Expo 2010 to help anglers decide whether it's a good day to try their luck.
The index will include information such as water temperature, wind direction, air and water pressure, daylight illumination and more.
The idea was brought up by Tao Luna, one of the resident deputies to the Shanghai People's Congress.
Tao had gathered suggestions made from many anglers in the city.
Tao said thousands of local anglers find it difficult to test the wind direction and the water temperature themselves, and thus thought a fishing index would benefit a lot of people.
Tang liked the idea so much that he promised to start planning with experts and launch the new index before the Expo opens on May 1.
