Get the QR, board the Metro
METRO commuters will be able to buy tickets online from Monday.
All a passenger needs to do to book a ticket, said the city’s metro operator, is to call up the mobile apps of Alipay or Fufeitong, process their order, and then pick up their ticket at metro stations by scanning the QR code provided through their phone.
A second option is to buy a ticket at the station. Passengers can tap on a screen and choose their destination on newly installed equipment and allow it to scan the QR code, just as they would do on other self-service machines.
The service is initially only available on Line 11’s Disney Station, Line 2’s Lujiazui Station, and Line 10’s Nanjing Road E. Station, each of which has been equipped with two new machines to handle the transactions.
Metro staff members will be on hand to guide passengers.
