Guide found alive after flash flood in east China

A tour guide, who was among the four people swept away in flash flood in east China yesterday, was found alive today, a spokesman with the Jingning county government told Xinhua.

Chen Jianchao, 29, was knocked unconscious when he struck his head on a rock after being swept away in the flood in Jingning She Autonomous County, Zhejiang Province.

Rescuers found him at 4 am today and took him to hospital, where his condition was stable, a spokesman with the county government told Xinhua.

Three people -- Liu Yujie, Liu Nuo and Zhang Lin -- from the 18-strong Shanghai tour party were still missing, the spokesman said.

Chen, Liu Yujie and Liu Nuo were swept away trying to rescue Zhang Lin.

The group was hit by the flash flood at a scenic gorge at about 3 pm yesterday in the county in Lishui City.

Rescuers are searching for the missing people.

The local government has also arranged accommodation for the other 15 travelers in a local village.

The 18 people organized the tour themselves through an outdoors club, a spokesman for the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration said yesterday.
