The garden will be expanded eastwards to add about a quarter, or 15,050 square meters, of the current area onto the garden and restoring five historical buildings to make the Ming-dynasty (1368-1644) site more authentic, Xinmin Evening News reported today.
The garden specializes in bamboo and is rich in legends, including the story of the Nanxiang steamed bun which originated from the garden. Now it is one of the most famous delicacies of the city.
