Heat wave continues
TODAY'S maximum temperature is expected to be 36 degrees Celsius while tomorrow is forecast to reach 35 degrees, Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said today.
The heat wave is expected to continue until at least Saturday, the bureau said.
The temperature downtown was 30.5 degrees by 8am today, one degree higher than the same time yesterday. Today is the city's 17th day with a maximum above 35 degrees this summer.
The bureau's chief service officer, Chen Min, said thunderstorms might hit this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon, but tomorrow's storms won's be as heavy.
The bureau issued a yellow lightning alert and a yellow shower alert, the third highest in the four-level system, on Tuesday.
