FIRMS will from next year be charged higher rates for discharging pollutants, the environment bureau said.
The charge for discharging pollutants containing sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide or ammonia nitrogen will rise to between 3 and 4 yuan (49 to 65 US cents) per kilogram, from 1 to 1.25 yuan at present, it said.
