Line 8 Extension Set To Open

THE second phase of Metro Line 8 will open on July 5, Metro officials said yesterday.
The new stretch will extend from its current terminus in Pudong New Area, near the Huangpu River, south to Minhang District.
Nearly 50,000 residents have been relocated from the World Expo site into three large residential centers and the Line 8 extension will service these areas.
Trains will arrive at five-minute intervals when the pilot service starts, an official said.
Residents in Pujiang Town will be able to travel via subway to People's Square in less than 40 minutes. A bus takes nearly 2 hours.
