Local power repairs go intelligent

SHANGHAI plans to introduce an intelligence power management system to help boost response and repair efficiency after a power blackout, local power supplier said yesterday.

The Trouble Call Management system has already proved effective during its trial run at the World Expo site and some complexes in the Pudong New Area and Huangpu and Luwan districts.

With the new TCM system, once a maintenance call is answered, the location and character of the reported electricity problem and the repairing resources at the spot are shown on computer screens in the control center, which helps the company's repair team to react more efficiently, the Shanghai Electric Power Co Ltd said.

If several problems are reported in the same area, the center can send one team to fix the repeat problems in that area instead of sending redundant staff to each household.

This will integrate the repair work while at the same time saving labor for other problems, officials with the company explained.
