Malou spins off, hot weather lingers
TROPICAL storm Malou is veering away from Shanghai and sparing the city of torrential rains and high winds this week, the local weatherman said today.
Malou upgraded to a severe tropical storm at 7am today and was 500 kilometers from the city at 10am, according to Shanghai Meteorological Bureau. It is now moving northeast at 20 kilometers per hour away from the city.
Due to its influence, showers occurred yesterday in the city but did not cause any trouble. More showers are likely today, but with Malou moving further away, its influence is waning, the bureau said.
The weather this week will be mostly cloudy with occasional showers. Temperatures will stay between 27 to 34 degrees Celsius.
