Mercury to rise, clouds set to stay
DESPITE the city’s recent air pollution problems, today should be a little warmer, with the top temperature expected to rise to about 13 degrees Celsius, forecasters said.
The mercury peaked at 10 degrees yesterday at the Xujiahui weather station, where official temperature readings are taken daily, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.
Today’s low will be about 5 degrees, it said.
Tomorrow is likely to see more of the same, with a low of 6 and a high of 11 degrees, forecasters said.
The persistent clouds are expected to remain throughout the early part of next week due to a bank of high pressure, the bureau said.
From Monday to Wednesday, the low temperature will flutter between 4 and 5 degrees, with the high likely to be in the 9 to 11 range.
