Metro breakdown at Xinzhuang
A METRO breakdown at Xinzhuang Metro Station delayed passengers in the rush hour this morning.
A mechanical problem near the southern end of Metro Line 1 at around 8:30am resulted in congestion on the platform as passengers waited for the next train but the problem was solved in three minutes and normal operations resumed soon afterwards.
Thousands of rush-hour commuters were delayed in Shanghai on Tuesday morning when a Metro train broke down on Metro Line 2 at People's Square and impatient passengers tried to walk along the tracks.
This was the fifth Metro breakdown in two weeks.
The number of passengers using it every day has increased from 2 million to 3.08 million people since five new Metro lines opened in 2007.
