Shanghai's Metro lines 7 and 16 to extend hours on some sections

SOME sections of Metro lines 7 and 16 will extend their hours of operation starting Wednesday.

The first trains along Line 7's northern section between Meilan Lake and Gucun Park stations towards Huamu Road Station will have their arriving time moved half an hour earlier. The first train will leave Meilan Lake at 5:30am instead of the previous 6am, according to operator Shanghai Shentong Metro Group.

The last southbound trains along the same section will also be extended, with the last train leaving Meilan Lake Station at 10:15pm instead of 10pm. The timetable for the remaining southbound trains of Line 7 remain the same.

Operation of Line 7's northbound trains will also be extended, with the last train leaving southern terminus Huamu Road Station at 10:30pm instead of 10pm.

On Line 16, the first westbound trains between the stations of Huinan and Luoshan Road will start operation earlier. First trains will leave both Huinan and Xinchang stations at 6:15am instead of the previous 6:24am and 6:34am.

The adjustments are meant to better serve commuters, as the operator managed to shorten the night maintenance time along the lines.

Line 16 passengers taking a morning train from Huinan Station to Luoshan Road Station can, starting Wednesday, reach the western terminal at 6:32am instead of 6:50am.
