Metro maintenance expected to slow lines 3 and 4
Trains on Metro lines 3 and 4 will soon undergo maintenance, leading to a reduction in the number of subways in service and more congestion during rush hours, the Shanghai Metro authority announced today.
The Metro operator is still working on a new timetable but maintenance work will begin this month. Several trains will be taken out of service at a time, the Metro operator said.
All maintenance work on the trains for the two lines is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
A single-day record of 8.48 million passengers used the Metro on Friday. Metro Line 4 carried 890,000 people that day, which was only surpassed by lines 1 and 2.
