Metro moving closer to seaside town of Lingang

A major section of a tunnel for Metro Line 11's southern extension was built yesterday, the Shanghai Urban Construction Engineering Company announced today.
The extension project linking mid-town Longyang Road Station for Maglev, Metro Line 2, 7 and 11 with the seaside town of Lingang at the southern tip of Pudong is expected to open to traffic by end of next year.
It will shorten the time of travel from Lujiazui area to Lingang New Town to about 30 minutes, company officials said.
Currently Line 11 is running from Jiangsu Road Station in Changning District to Anting in Jiading District.
