Metro operator to fix card machines
METRO operators have promised to fix or replace broken transport card refill machines after complaints from passengers. The Shanghai Shentong Metro Group said it was in talks with equipment providers about the situation.
In some stations, especially older ones, up to 90 percent of machines have been out of service. Passengers have to queue up to have their cards manually updated. The situation, however, is better at newly opened stations, such as Metro Lines 8, 10, 11 which have new machines. The machines are usually bought from several equipment providers, which makes it relatively difficult to conduct thorough checks, said the operator.
