Metro stations in revamp, causing inconvenience
THREE Metro stations on Line 9 were closed today for a major overhaul, but traffic was smooth during the morning rush hour despite some complaints about insufficient replacement buses and a lack of notices to inform the change.
Four replacement bus lines are in operation today to connect commuters with other Metro stations during rush hours of 7am-9am and 5pm-7pm. But many commuters told Shanghai Daily that the bus fleet was not big enough to meet their demand and their service hours should be extended.
"It took me five minutes to squeeze into a train because of huge crowds even although I came to the station 30 minutes earlier than before," said Qin Chaolin, a company worker who commutes by subway every day.
