Metro to stop at sports center

THE Metro Line 9 linking Xujiahui with Songjiang District in the southwest of the city is to be extended to the Songjiang Sports Center.
The 1.56-kilometer extension is undergoing an environmental impact study and is scheduled to be completed in 2011, Oriental Morning Post reported today.
Xujiahui Metro Station on Line 9 is scheduled to be opened by the end of the year. At present Line 9 runs from Songjiang New Town to Yishan Road in Xuhui District.
It will be one of the 10 stations in the line's second phase. Line 9 extends from Yishan Road to Yanggao Road M in Pudong New Area.
The Xujiahui Station will allow passengers to transfer between Lines 1 and 9. Line 9 will connect with Line 8 at Lujiabang station and Lines 2, 4 and 6 at Century Avenue station.
