Metro turnstiles gorge strange cards
INSTEAD of Metro tickets or public transit cards, some passengers use credit cards, hotel room keycards, ID cards and even Expo tickets to go through the ticket turnstile, leaving a large number of cards to be claimed and temporarily breaking the system.
An official, surnamed Yang, with Metro's operation center, said the phenomenon is more obvious now, since people from other parts of the country with no idea about Shanghai's subway system are pouring into the city to see the World Expo.
The problem is even more felt at the Yaohua Road Station of Line 7 and 8, which leads to the main entrance of the Expo site. Metro workers have found a wide array of strange cards.
Yang told Shanghai Daily today that they have sent more employees to the ticket turnstiles, guiding passengers how to check in and check out as they have no technical solutions to the problem.
