Milder weather for the next 3 days

THE city is expected to enjoy cooler weather for the next three days but the temperature is expected to rise again from Thursday, weather forecasters said yesterday.

A thunderstorm is expected to hit late today, followed by a rain belt that should cover the city all day tomorrow, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau. A southerly wind will make the city less muggy, though.

There will be morning drizzle on Wednesday before the sky clears late in the day.

The city will enjoy partly cloudy weather on Thursday and Friday.

The maximum temperature tomorrow will drop to 27 degrees Celsius from today's 31, with lows of 23 degrees. The maximum will rise to 29 degrees on Wednesday and above 30 from Thursday. The lows, however, will drop to around 20 to 22 degrees, forecasters said.

The plum rain season, which usually lasts about 20 days, may start next week, but it may not be heavy this year, weathermen said. Normally, the city gets about 244 millimeters in the season.
