Minhang set to open 15km walking path

A 15-kilometer landscape walking path will be opened to the public at the start of January, Minhang District government announced.

The path, which can also be used for jogging and cycling, starts from the district’s Liuleitang area and runs along Humin Road and Dongchuan Road. The path will also connect to Minhang Binjiang Park near Huangpu River.

Gardens and sculptures featuring folk culture have been arranged along the path.

The path is part of a 37km walking path project the district started to build last year.

The 15km southern section is expected to be completed on December 28, and will be put into use at the beginning of next year.

The project made use of the district’s existing walking paths especially those along waterways, while having more greeneries planted.

The 15km path has been divided into three sections.

The northern section will feature traditional paper-cutting skills, and will be decorated with sculptures shaped into paper-cutting works.

The middle section has a theme of heavy industry, as Minhang District used to be the home of Shanghai’s major heavy industry joints.

The southern section, which goes past the Zizhu High-Tech Industrial Park, will involve high-tech elements into its decorations.
