More ‘London cabs’

ANOTHER 150 “London taxis” will hit the streets of Shanghai by the end of next year to meet demand, Geely Automobile, producer of the car, told Shanghai Morning Post yesterday. The current 50 “London cabs” — the same model as found on London’s streets — operated by Shanghai Qiangsheng Taxi Co are only meeting 25 percent of telephone enquiries, said officials. The more spacious cabs are intended primarily for disabled passengers. Currently this group accounts for just 8 percent of passengers and cash subsidies have been announced. Cabs can be booked through the dispatch hotline 6258-0000 or hailed on the street.
