New Metro stations retire airport shuttle service
THE free shuttle bus service that links the two terminals of the city's Hongqiao International Airport will be cancelled after two Metro stations open there, airport officials said today.
The bus service which began on March 16 after the second terminal opened in the airport, will stop from December 1, officials said.
The bus connection between the two terminals can be replaced by Metro Line 10 when it opens new stations at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 tomorrow.
The shuttle service has been welcomed by passengers and it handled a total of 896,350 people from March 16 to October 31, airport officials said.
Some air travelers who mistakenly go the wrong terminals would use the buses while some airport workers also found it convenient to take the bus for transit.
